After years of hunting down vulnerabilities, two security enthusiasts decided to turn their passion into a business

One’s a wizard at application penetration testing, able to find security gaps in code that even the most seasoned developers wouldn’t notice. The other is a master of infrastructure testing, methodically hunting down vulnerabilities in networks, firewalls, and servers like a cyber Sherlock.

Together, they've discovered hundreds of vulnerabilities - issues that, had they been left unchecked, could have caused major headaches (or worse) for numerous organizations. At KobReySec, however, it's not just about finding vulnerabilities - we’ve got customers' best interests at the forefront of everything we do. We know the difference between a “cool hack” and one that could open the door to serious damage. Our number one focus is on preventing others from getting taken advantage of by hackers. In an industry that often gets bogged down by jargon and self-importance, we keep it real, knowing that the real win is in making sure that no one becomes a victim of the next major breach.

About Our Founders

Eric is a seasoned application penetration tester with years of experience breaking things - specifically, the kind of things that shouldn’t be broken. Before diving headfirst into the world of security, he spent more than a decade at an eCommerce company where he wore many hats: developer, infrastructure architect, and DBA. This means he’s not just the guy who finds vulnerabilities; he's the one who gets why things break and can actually recommend how to fix them too. In fact, he’s written more bugs than he’d care to admit, but hey, those vulnerabilities don’t discover themselves. When he's not finding new and creative ways to make code sweat, Eric can be found whipping up something in the kitchen, tinkering with his latest project, or sipping on a craft beer - because, after all, why should hackers have all the fun?

With over 15 years in the world of infrastructure penetration testing and a previous two-decade-long career in the military, Randy has made a career out of breaking things - securely, of course. While others are still figuring out the basics, he's already teaching the next generation of pen testers how to find vulnerabilities (spoiler: he's found plenty himself). It's not just about exposing weaknesses, though; Randy also works hand-in-hand with clients to help direct them to fix those issues before they become full-blown disasters. When he’s not hunting for security flaws, Randy’s usually at the rink cheering on his kids, who are busy schooling their opponents in hockey. So, while he might not be the one on skates (although he could be), he's definitely the proud dad making sure everyone knows his kids have the best slapshot on the ice.

Professional Certifications

Many firms offer penetration testing these days, but you’d be surprised how many of those “experts” are more interested in collecting a paycheck than actually knowing what they’re doing. While many claim to provide top-tier security testing, the truth is, a lot of them hire "testers" who have about as much training as your average intern. Certified penetration testers, on the other hand, have actual credentials that prove they know their stuff. So, if you want your environments and applications tested by someone who understands the latest threats, save yourself the headache and go with the pros who’ve passed the tests that prove they’re not just guessing at your weaknesses. Speaking of that, here are some of the credentials we hold.
